The results of the development of a distance determination method to the ground fault of an overhead line in the network with isolated neutral are presented. The proposed method is based on the measurement of mode parameters of the line. To implement the method at the beginning of the line, the phases of this line are connected to ground through the tanks. The results of experimental studies of the line-in-use faults are presented. Analysis of experimental data shows that the use of traditional distance determination methods to the fault is difficult due to the complex electromagnetic environment, which is caused by the influence of a closely located high-voltage line and other equipment that is under high voltage. The use of first harmonics of currents and voltages significantly improves the accuracy of distance determination to the fault location. References 6, figures 3, table 1.
